This innovative company is a spinoff from the Human-Machine Interaction (HMI) and Cognitive Robotics Laboratories of the Sabanci University (SABANCI). The spinoff has been established for the purpose of converting rehabilitation robot technologies developed in the last ten years within HMI Laboratory into human-oriented, high-tech products. Neurological injuries are the leading cause of serious, long-term disability. Importantly, physical rehabilitation therapy is indispensable for treating neurological disabilities. Therefore, an immediate and effective way of the physical rehabilitation medical approach is crucial to obtain recovery of the patient, which has a neurological injury. Therapies are more effective when they are intense, repetitive and targeted.

Manual therapies are labour intensive and place the high physical burden on therapists. Robotic devices in repetitive and physically involved rehabilitation eliminate the physical burden of movement therapy for the therapists, enable safe and versatile training with increased intensity, allow quantitative measurements of patient progress, increase the reliability, accuracy, and effectiveness of traditional physical rehabilitation therapies, realize innovative treatment protocols. 

As the result, Interact Technologies design and develop ergonomic powered exoskeletons, with artificial intelligence (AI) add-ons, that can deliver personalized physical therapies in order to improve the quality of life of patients suffering from a stroke (lat. Apoplexia). According to the World Health Organization, cerebrovascular accidents (stroke) are the second leading cause of death and the third leading cause of disability. Stroke, the sudden death of some brain cells due to lack of oxygen when the blood flow to the brain is lost by blockage or rupture of an artery to the brain, is also a leading cause of dementia and depression.

Since 70% of strokes and 87% of both stroke-related deaths and disability-adjusted life years occur in low- and middle-income countries, globally, effective methods and means of rehabilitation are extremely required. Therefore, Interact Technologies works to provide innovative products and services using robotics and AI technologies in order to improve personalized physical therapies.
